i have a 1996 town and country mini van with 97000 miles and sometimes when i drive the car will hesitate and then die. or sometimes at idle the engine will just die. it doesnt happen at any certain rpms. but after it dies i can just start it up imediately and keep driving. any help would be appreciated

When hot or cold? Ever clean the throttle body? How are the plugs/wires etc. How is the battery? Fuel filter?

This has happened to me about a dozen times in my 2008 town and country...the last time it happened, my engine had to be replaced. @ 24 000 KMS.

this is tough internet fix. you don't have a hesitation, you have stumble and stalling. it just randomly dies (from what I gather in your description). there are several things that may be the problem. Cam sensor, crank sensor, EGR sticking open (but that would only be on decel and idle), computer, wiring (open, short or corrosion), relay, gnomes, elves, aliens, planet alignment, sun spots or other natural phenomenia

The ONLY way to truely pinpoint this problem would be to do data analysis on the computer.... and beyond just looking for codes
