Intermittent heating problem

I just bought a used 2002 Town and Country with 115K on it. The vehicle runs fine and warms up OK but sometimes there is no heat in the passenger compartment. At first inspection the coolant level seemed OK both in coolant recovery tank and the radiator, but I would somtimes hear a gurgling sound when I shut down the engine, so I suspected I had air in the system. I let the van cool, took of the radiator cap and then started the engine and let it warm up. After 5 or 10 minutes, the coolant level suddenly dropped and I added about 1 gallon of coolant. I thought this would take care of the problem, and it appears to be better, but somtimes I still don't get heat even when the engine is warm. usually I cycle the temperature selectors and after a drive a bit, I have heat. any ideas?

RE: Intermittent heating problem

you might have to have the ac/heater recalibrated.or you have a blend air door problems

Bledn Door

I also have a 2002 TNC Touring edition, and I beleive mine maybe a blend door issue. I spoke to my neighbor who is a retired Master Tech for Ford. he states that it sounds like my blend door. It is warm coming in (when van is warm) and then it gets cold for a few, then back to wam again, on feet and out the front air vents when I move the position i want it to blow out from. I was told its expensive at a dealer and would rather do it myself and posisbly he would help. could I get info on how to do this and the locations of my blend door? are there steps someone might of done this before? Thanks guys.
