Intermittent P0300 & P0172 Codes
Hi all, I have an '02 T&C with 178K. The last 2000 miles I've been experiencing intermittent issues with a P0172 and P0300 code coming in. I've also seen pending codes for misfire on every cylinder @ one time or another except for #4. New plugs and wires, couple bottles fuel injector cleaner. Sprayed down butterfly & throat with carb cleaner. Each one helped for a little bit, but it eventually comes back.
I pulled the freeze data today: Code: P0300 RPM: 672 Coolant Temp: 93 F (though the gauge was @ half) Load:21.1% MAP Sensor:57 KPA Short Term Fuel Trim 1: -18.8% Long term Fuel Trim 1: -10.4% Short Term Fuel Trim 3: 20.3% Long term Fuel Trim 3: -82.5% Speed: 32 MPH As with everyone else, money is tight and if I can get a few ideas it would be a great help .. Thanks |

well either the computer us using is not accurate or u have some typos or there is a computer issue
@ 32 MPH u @ 672 RPM not likely and fuel trim can not exceed 35% + or - |
Thanks for the feed back .. I read the freeze data with a Actron CP9175, I re-checked the information and there were no typos .. When you said the computer issue, are you talking about the van's computer or the reader?
Its funny, some days it will purr like a kitten and the light will be off and the next its running rough. The P0300 code comes in everytime, usually with 2 specific cylinders misfiring code pending. The P0172 about half the time. I'm clearing the codes once a week or so, if its been on for a few days. I cleared the codes and will check the freeze data again when the light comes on. |
the scanner then must be faulty use a different one

Read the freeze data again. No one has a reader that shows the freeze data, so I had to use my existing one.
The P0172 code triggered it this time. RPM 1856 Load Valve % 29.8 Map Sensor 92 KPA Coolant temp 203F Short Fuel Trim 1 -2.2% Long Fuel Trim 1 -25.6% Short Fuel Trim 3 -51.0 Long Fuel Trim 3 97.6 Speed 59 MPH I know you said the fuel trim is out of range. Is there a sensor that could be bad to give these readings ?? I am also getting P0301 and 0305 constantly now. Is there a way to test the coil pack ?? I was getting misc misfires through the past week or so and now these two are coming in regularily. |
I pulled the fuel injector wiring harness plug and found the insulation to be melted. Taped the wires and protected with fiberglass tape. Drove it about 30 miles and it had a little miss in it @ idle, but wasn't misfiring and running smooth @ 55 mph. The SES light came back on with the P0172 code again. The freeze data is similar to before. Does the van need to be run for a while to get everything to reset right ??

if u can still feel the issue then it is still there
