Intermittent starting issue
 

Hi Guys , I have a 2008 Town and country and every now and then it will not turn over just a click . New battery , new alt , new starter . Turn the key 5 to 10 times and it starts likes it should . Anyone have any ideas . Thanks grinder369

Remove the starter relay in the TIPM then jump contacts 30 and 87 on the empty relay socket together with a piece of wire. The starter should spin right away. Don't need the key. It will prove the circuit from the battery through the TIPM and out to the starter solenoid are good. Try it several times. May want to wait till it acts up.

Next time it happens, pull off the wiring connector on starter coil then re-attach. Now try for start. Note if the connector was slack and if it was, squeeze to make tight.
Its a silly fault and causes numerous parts like starters to be renewed.

Do I have to wait until it fails to do this , it's hard to tell when and where it fails me . Thanks looking forward to trying this

NOTE: This bulletin applies to the above listed vehicles equipped with a MYGIG radio (sales code REN, REP, RER, REW or REZ) built before February 8, 2008 (MDH 0208XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION: Vehicle operator may experience weak or dead battery condition. This may be caused by the radio not powering down properly and keeping the communication buss awake causing a parasitic battery draw.

You do not need to wait till it fails to do that. Check the connector and verify if its slack or easily removed.

I have the some problem, but
 

I have taken my 2008 t & c to my dealer over 5 times and still, once in two weeks the problem occurs just as you stated. My starter has been replaced and battery terminals tighten. All these repairs done under my extended warranty. Now that has expired, so afraid what will they charge me next time.
BTW my FOBS and ignition recall has never been completed, the dealer say still no parts available. Has yours been done???

Kenny, i also have a 2008 with the same problem. i went years w/dealer unable to find solution. they added ground cable from batt to transmission, changed battery, starter, then gave up. finally dealer fixed. is a faulty transmission gear position switch. had it done 4 weeks ago. 100% success so far. it makes sense, if computer doesn't know is in park (due to faulty sensor) car won't start. I think they said they had to go behind transmission to get to. good luck.
