Keyless Entry Key Fob Replacement

I just purchased a 2002 Town & Country LX. It did not come with the key fob for keyless entry. I was searching the interwebs and one replacement remote site stated that you HAD to have 2 power sliding doors in order for the 6 button remote key fob to work. Is this true?

Also, since I don't have an existing working key fob, I will need to have a dealer program the replacement. Generally how much does a dealer charge for this?

Cant say about the 4 or 6 button key fob as so long they are the same frequency it will work if not wont program and yes will need to have a dealer program because u dont have 2 working ones already

Thanks. Any way to tell what the frequency should be? The one I am looking at states the 2002 T&C is supported. I had installed an aftermarket keyless entry / alarm in my PT Cruiser, but thought if the T&C had it standard, it would be easier to get a keyfob and get it programmed.

frequescy is on the back of the fob which in your case wont do any good.

Sorry to gatecrash here but im having the same problem with my 2003 grand voyager i never got a fob with it when i brought the car only the key ive been to the dealer who gave me the part number for the correct fob which i have now brought a new one ive been to a couple of auto key programming company's couldn't do it even though they got into the system and a few say they cant do Chrysler,s at all....... i have a couple more company,s to try.. but if no joy with them i think it might off to the main dealers...

One guy who tried today to programme the fob said there was no faults in the system... but he couldn't rule out the remote sensors in the car or is the dealer the only option i have

your thoughts guys
