Default Leak from Auto Box

My Grand Voyager 3.3 Ltd 2002 has just has its service and the garage gave me a list of things to be fixed – one of these included the replacement of the auto box, which they said was corroded and leaking oil. This would cost £230 (parts and labour). The garage didn’t really make a big deal about this so I’m not sure of the urgency - is it essential for this to be replaced, or is it ok to go one driving with it?

Sorry if this seems to be a basic question - my excuse is that I am new to this forum and have no technical skills and knowledge!
