Default Left Indicator Not working

I have a 1998 3.3 V6 Grand Voyager, when I try to indicate left nothing happens, I have to quickly turn the Hazards on and off, this seems to trick the indicator in to working, it will then work for the next two or three turns and then stop. (There is not a problem with turning right or the hazards) Does anyone know if I need to replace the stalk or the relay before I turn to ebay to get the part?

Thank you in anticipation.

Sounds like a dry joint at your multifunction switch or your relay is either on its way out or it contacts are corroded. The reason I say this is that by switching on the hazards you are current loading the relay. If it is partially worn this will kick it into life. Then using the individual indicators it basically starts to degenerate slowly until it stops working. Try finding the relay, pull it out, clean the contacts both externally and internally. The internal ones can be cleaned using a ladies nail file. Just be sure to blow it out properley.
