Loud Whistling Noise in Town & Country

There is a very loud whistling noise going at speeds of 70 or more when there is a cross wind. Sounds come from driver side but I just heard it go back and forth from driver to passenger side. I've read up online and it appears to be an issue with the plastic cowl but that dealers don't know about this fix and so it seems to be a hassle to get someone to listen. What are your suggestions? I need to fix this as this is a 2015 that should not have any issues. Please help as this is very loud.

Annwiz,

Welcome to the forum.
Being a 2015 vehicle, I'd has to assume the vehicle is protected by the factory warranty.

I would recommend taking the vehicle back to your selling dealer and bringing the Service Manager out on a test drive to confirm the noise.
Afterwards, he/she will identify the needed repairs if applicable.

Please re-post after you've had to the opportunity to speak with your dealer.

Loud Whistling Noise in 2013 T & C

We have a 2013 T & C and have the exact same problem as Annwiz. Dealer is useless. Even though I showed them a video of the problem, they say they can't replicate it and therefore can't find anything wrong. One time they did recaulk the windshield, but no luck. I have always felt it is in the drivers side dash. I read on a different forum that someone with the same issue got it to stop by turning on the recirculating button. This makes sense to me, I've told my wife it sounds like a duct door fluttering or a vacuum leak. I will hit the recirculate button next time I hear it and post the results.
This issue might not seam serious to some, but it occured one time when my 18 yr old daughter was driving us home from a wedding and it scared her so bad we almost ended up in the ditch. I will give the dealer one maybe two more attempts to correct, then I'm going to file a lemon law claim.

Hi tbone,

Have you had the opportunity to go on a ride along with someone in the Service department at your dealership? That way you can replicate the issue for them and make sure they are aware of exactly what is going on.

Hi tbone/Chrysler:

Check out this guy...
where he mentions a technical service bulletin titled "TSB23-023-08". He links to his other posts where everyone who applied this silicon has agreed this has worked. I just had this done on Monday of this week (Aug.22) at the dealership. The engineer said it wasn't covered under the newer models but he did it anyway because he has seen me come back every so often saying how much I cannot stand this loud noise. Please either try this yourself or if you want take it to the dealership to see if they will do it for you. Good luck and I do hope Chrysler will update this Technical Service Bulletin to apply to the newer Town and Country models and have it covered under warranty.

Yes, I agree tbone, it is an excruciating loud whistle noise that appears to happen in a lot of T&C vehicles and you can't pin point it while driving. To make matters worse, the sound actually shifts from one side of the windshield to the other while driving. Please Chrysler take care of this. Read all the posts on that youtube channel.

Good luck. I'm hoping I never hear that sound again.

sounds like a tea kettle

This sound is imcredibly annoying. We also have a 2015 Chrysler T&C, two of them actually. After a quick google of this issue, clearly it is a problem with some part of the manufacturing as so many people are experiencing the exact same problem. If Chrysler wants to maintain any sort of positive reputation they should address the problem immediately, by finding the solution and doing a recall on the faulty part that is causing the issue. I find it very dissapointing that average citizens are finding solutions because Chrysler either can't or won't. Quality control management and the administration team at Chrysler needs to take this more seriously instead of hoping it goes away and trying to sweep it under the rug. Not a good look Chrysler.

I have noticed the same issue. Took my vehicle in today...not enough wind to replicate. OBVIOUSLY this appears to be an issue that others are experiencing as well. Would think that living in OK where it is frequently windy that the service department would be aware, but they act like they have never heard of it before. Will bring this forum to their attention so they can educate themselves about their products.
