Need better gas milage 2006 t & c
 

:) I HAVE A 2006 TOWN COUNTRY 108,000 ON IT WITH THE 3.3 LITER V-6 AND IT RUNS FINE BUT WITH ONLY 13 MPG CITY AND JUST 20 ALL THE TIME ON THE HIGHWAY.
HOW DO I INCREASE THE GAS MILAGE ?? DO THESE COMPUTER CHIPS WORK THAT THEY SELL FOR 69 DOLLARS ?? OR DO THESE FITCH CATAZLIST THAT YOU CAN PUT IN YOUR GAS TANK OF FUEL LINES WORK ?? OR DOES ANY OF THE CAR COMPUTER REPROGRAMERS OUT THERE THAT MAKE ADJUSTMENTS ON THE ECU ON OUR VANS IN THESE YEARS WORK??. HELP I AM GOING BROKE PAYING FOR THE GAS GOING INTO THIS THING:cool:

Has any one tried the computer chips they sell for $69 for the re-tuning of the cars computers . And has it done any better on the gas mile age. Please if anyone has tried them pleas give me a review on the proformance changes to your car.

Have you changed plugs and wires? I changed ours at about 105,000 and got about a 2 mpg increase on the 3.8l. And on the 3.8 it is feasiable to change the plugs and wires from the top without removing anything - about a 20 min job.

A petrol engine in one of these is going to be thirsty. 13 mpgUS is about 16mpgUK. As a comparison Jeremy Clarkson on one of his "Top Gear" shows found he was doing NINEmpgUK on a new petrol Range Rover around London.
Gotta remember these motors weigh 1.8 tonnes french, 2.1 tons british, 2.4 tons american.
The only way I think you'll find that helps is to use "hypermiling" driving techniques, plus keeping tyres well blown up (36lbs all round I think) and the usual other things.
But they won't make all that much difference. If you get another, get a diesel (like mine, lol...). Expect 25 to 30 mpgUK from a diesel.

I have a 2007 Town and Country Touring with the 3.8 , i dont know if a prior owner did any tuning but on the interstates I can get up to/around 33 mpg. Of coarse this is on flat/level roads and cruise control set at 65. I thought my display was showing some bs numbers but after doing the math a few times, im extremely happy with my fuel economy.

If it is any help I have a 2000 RHD (GS Body) 3.3 LX Auto Grand Voyager (UK version of the US (NS Body) Town & Country). The vehicle is always heavily laden and A/C running in the summer (7 X Dog Crates....I show dogs as a hobby BTW) and very thirsty:(.

I agree entirely with Leedsman's suggestion of 'Hypermiling' driving (see Hypermiling Techniques | Hypermiling) and also the tire inflation at 36 PSI. Jkottong suggested plugs and leads, I renewed mine with Chrysler Originals + recommended Champion Plugs when I organised an LPG conversion in 2009 but didn't notice much difference on my LX.

As noted above, I had an Liquid Petroleum Gas (Liquefied Propane Gas in US I think) (LPG) conversion carried out when I acquired the vehicle in 2009 at 75,000 miles. With the conversion, after running for a mile or so on Unleaded Gasoline it switches to the LPG. .........NB. LPG is said to be slightly LESS efficient than Unleaded Gasoline so please bear that in mind when considering the figures below.

I have been keeping tabs of MPG(UK) ever since and the BEST I have EVER achieved on any journey was 27 MPG (UK) (roughly 24.5 MPG (US)) 90% of this on the motorway (freeway).

My current average at 130000 miles is around 21.5 MPG (UK) (19.5 MPG (US)) on the freeway and 14.5 MPG (UK) (13 MPG (US)) on local (urban) trips.

LPG in the UK is around 70p/ltr (around $1.00?) just now. As 1 litre is roughly equivalent to 0.264 US Gallons that would equate to approximately $4.00 per US Gallon. Unleaded Gasoline here is around £1.35 p/ltr (around $2.00) just now giving approximately ($8.00) per US Gallon. Would be interested to hear how that compares to Gasoline and Liquified Propane Gas pump prices stateside!!

I had a 3.2ltr XJ6 Jaguar with a gas/LPG conversion, I thought It ran BETTER on LPG than petrol. There certainly was no loss of power. At the time, the cost-equivalent mpg figure for motorway driving was 44mpgUK. The engine had 10.5:1 compression ratio. I think this high compression had a lot to do with good results from LPG. It appears you can run a compression ratio of 12:1 with LPG., thereby getting a lot more power.
