Newbie 2002 G/Voyager 2.5 crd dreaded gearbox maybe?

Hi everyone, 4 mnths ago bought the above with 80k on it, 5 speed manual it had 11 mths mot and seemed ok, had receipt for new clutch and what i assumed was crank seal, had the usual front anti roll bar knocking bad h/brake, electric window problem, but ok for me. Done 4k in it since, until a couple of weeks ago a "bearing gone" sort of noise began from the front and has increased steadily since, but funnily only when driving straight or turning right.
So i assumed wheel bearing, but they checked out ok, so i thought driveshaft bearing ! they seemed ok, but one had a split gaiter, i wasnt convinced so i just got a 2nd hand one, fitted it, problem the same, tried the same for the other side, problem the same.
Now i am thinking final drive/ diff bearings ? but the noise disapears when turning left .However as far as can be said noise is fairly central front ( although i know this is little confirmation)
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, its a uk model by the way, i am not a mechanic but do as much as i can to my own vehicles, as i got tired of getting ripped off years ago.
