O2 Sensor replacement problem

I have a 2002 T&C All Wheel Drive with the 3.8L engine

I need to replace the O2 sensors. I have a lift in my garage for service so access is not a problem. The rear sensor was relatively easy to get out. Replacing the new one was easy except for plugging it into a socket that is not convenient to access. A one handed braile method worked best

My problem is the upper or before the cat sensor. How do you access it? Is a special tool required to get to it.

I can see that unplugging it and pluging in the new one will be difficult too.

What brain dead design Chrysler engineer did the work on this application. Engineers who design these impossible to access parts should be forced to repair them. They would gain a little real world knowledge.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Michael

RE: O2 Sensor replacement problem

dude i know these suck! heres how and what i use.a snap on socket #ya8875 and a flex type ratchet wrench.also you might try breaking the old one,(wiring part)and just put a regular socket on it.installing just use short 7/8 open end wrench. good luck ! knuckle bustin'time again. and something else...check your wiring connectors for water.moe
