Oil Level high (fuel in oil?)
 

I've a 2002 CRD Grand Voyager and when checking the oil last night, I've noticed it's a bit high.

I've 2 possible solutions, 1st is that my Biodiesel trial has done in the fuel pump seal, second is that as I'm getting exhaust fumes inside the car again it's an injector seal fault causing it.

Are both of these plausable? And does anyone have any other instances when the oil level rises? (oils black as tar, no sign of HG problems).

Had a look and found 2 injector seals gone. Removed and replaced for one of them to go again immediately (never changed copper washer, just the oring so my own fault).

Dont really know much about injectors, but both had hard deposits on the bottom so hopefully that was allowing fuel to seep through?

Got onto Chrysler for spares. O ring? No joy, they dont list it. Then over a fiver (think that was before VAT) for a copper washer.

So as I've replaced them all a couple of years ago, and they're hard to get locally in my experience, I've ordered 2 sets of 4 from a VM engine specialist.

I'll update once I know if it solves the fuel in sump problem incase anyone ever has a similar problem.

You'e been on this site a while i think? So you know about the VM specialist in Chesterfield and JNL on the south coast?

It's the one in Chesterfield, had parts off them before. I'll keep a note of JNL as well.

I've had contact with a guy that says theres a taxi place in Glasgow that sells parts as well as whatever taxi's they run also have the VM engine in them (not sure if it's the 2.5 or the 2.8 though).

Thats been 3 weeks now and the oil levels not rising any more.

Seems conclusive then, if the seals go again I'll need to look at viton ones (I'm assuming the ones I'm buying arnt).

How's the voyager running on bio,Thinking of giving it a try, what millage have you done on it?

Thats 2400 miles mixing it 75% bio to 25% diesel, car seems to run fine.No change in starting habits, MPG sitting around 30 but theres quite a bit of short journeys in there.

Only problems been injector seals, cant confirm or deny if thats due to the bio as of yet.

I'll just add, unless you're buying duty paid commercial bio at a good price or making it yourself, I probably wouldnt do it. There could be an MPG reduction that wipes out any saving plus you're always taking a chance on quality.

If it's commercial bio, try and research some basic tests you could carry out to check quality.

4000 miles in, running 100% Biodiesel for approximately 3 tank fills now.

Injector seal and oil problem is no more, engine management light came on a couple of weeks ago (P1130 I think) but theres no sign of the car running differently so I'm hoping it goes out after a service.

No evidence to suggest or deny it's down to running bio at this time.

P1130 is fuel pressure problem...
