Power Tailgate not working

Hi,

Got an issue with my 2010 Grand Voyager the tailgate does not work with the motor. When you try to close the tailgate using the motor you can just hear clicking and nothing happens same thing when you try to open it.

Sounds as though something has come off the rails?

The chain in the power opener mechanism has been know to break causing this issue. If your chain is broken it can be repaired by replacing the chain.

Since the dealer only sells the entire opener assembly you will need to purchase a length of heavy-duty #25 chain and some master links. They are available from electricscooterparts.com among other places.

Thanks to user Beau-Kat for posting the fix in this thread: "Liftgate Chain Repairs"

You can find more information including pictures of the opener mechanism at this link: "Rear Hatch Opener"

Thanks for the information it must be that because I can hear the motor but nothing happens.

Is it easy to get access to the motor/chain, do I need to take the whole side panel off?

Also anyone know of any suppliers in the UK with #25 chain?

I haven't done this repair myself so I don't know, but I assume the side panel needs to be removed. I suggest asking Beau-Kat since he has done this repair.

To be more specific the chain you need is American Standard Chain ASA25, using Google I found this place in Norfolk: http://www.bearingboys.co.uk that sells it. It's also available on ebay.co.uk and Amazon.co.uk.
