Default Premature Brake failure????

I just had the front brake pads and rotors replaced on my 2005 Town and Country because they had worn to metal. I am about 100 miles shy of 28000. They never squeeked and over the course of just a couple days started grinding. I had the van into the dealer 3000 miles ago for the regular oil change, ect. and was told the brakes were fine when they did the quick check.
When I asked why I am having to replace the brakes at this mileage I was told the Techs are seeing brakes on the T & C only last 20000-25000 miles. THIS IS CRAZY! I have looked on the internet, craigslist discussions, ect. and have not seen ANYTHING about brakes only lasting this short period of time.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is the dealer feeding me a line of bull****?

Pam
