Purge Control

I have a 2004 Town and Country. The van was getting a P0443 code so we replaced the Purge Control Valve. The mechanic was concerned that there was oil in the old valve but said it should be fine now. Needless to say, it is not fine. Today, not only is there the P0443 code, now there is also a P1697 and P0073. Was this something caused by the mechanic or is this this a typical decline in the PCM? Do these codes mean that I need to replace the whole PCM. I don't want to keep giving these mechanics my money only to be in a worse place after.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

P1697 is a pretty rare DTC. If it will not go away then you don't have much choice but to replace the PCM. The other codes are the ambient (outside air) temp ssnsor which is a little sensor in the grill. I usually find them broken or the wires damaged. It's black and looks like a nipple. The purge code is electrical in nature. Will need to be tested by someone competent. Could be wiring or the PCM may be at fault also So could all the codes. There are websites to get a rebuilt PCM. The dealer ones are expensive.

I will advise you to not let someone touch your car anymore who fixes your car by reading the code name on a scanner and matching it to a part name.... Seriously amature garbage right there.
