Rear bumper replacement
 

Morning all,


So on Friday night let my dad use th GV and he managed to reverse it in to a bollard! so I have a nice dent and cracked which has formed a hole! Ow fun!


He is paying for a replacement which I have already sourced.


has anyone replaced one before? any tips or manuals on here I can use?


its and 04 GV with no parking sensors?

If I remember on doing my Towbar on my 2003 Grand Voyager the rear bumper has two rails on it that slide into the car chassis main box sections that run the length of the car. Each rail of the bumper is secured by two 12mm bolts passed through the chassis from below into a welded nut on bumper rail. You can't miss these bolts below car.

Socket set should be all you need. But try these bolts from below first to see if they loosen and are not seized.
I had to remove them to fit my Towbar so I didn't actually remove the bumper. Bumper ends are normally connected to body by slide-on fittings, but just had a look at my 2003 bumper and all I can say is it looks interesting. Its like these modern cars where the bumper is a part of the bodywork.
If you do go ahead gives an inventory on job.

It was fairly easy when I removed mine to fit reversing sensors. There are a few bolts on each wheel arch. A few bolts underneath where you would expect to find a towbar and then you remove the trim on the boot where the lock is and remove a bolt or two and a few clips and it comes off. I reckon an hours work for a first attempt and no troublesome bolts/clips.
