Rear Seat Mechanism, 2008 T & C

Ref: the rearmost seats in my 2008 Town and Country.
They lock properly in the upright position, but when I collapse them into the rear storage wells, although the main part of the left and right seats fold flat to form a flat surface flush with the rest of the cargo area, the portion of the seat support that normally locks down to complete the flat surface extends up about 3" at the forward end. They can be easily pushed down, but will not stay that way.
I talked to the local Chrysler dealer and they said they'd have to run diagnostic tests; get in there, tear it apart, etc. I can live with this if I have to and don't want to run up large labor bills if it's an easy fix I can handle myself. Seems like it might just be a sticking part, or some minor problem with the "locking mechanism".
Has anyone had the same problem and what was the fix?
Thanks,
Robert
Issue is with the driver side rear (double) seat only.

Are these powered folding seats or manually operated?

Alan, Thanks for responding. If I'd known they had a powered rear seats I'd have included the info in my original post:

Seats are MANUAL.

Maybe that bodes well for a less complicated solution???
