Rear Springs - 1999 Grand Voyager

Hi,

I have a 1999 Grand Voyager and on a recent trip to Wales, one of the leaf springs snapped and we had to be recovered home :(

I have notice that my springs seem to "bend" the opposite way to what I would expect. I would have thought they would have bolted to the chasis and then the axle, which would be lower that the chasis. This would be like a bow with the axled at the bottom. Mine seem to go up to the axle.

I have tried to show this in the images below....

I would really appreciate it if someone could post similar images, just for my own piece of mind.

Thanks
Mike

Oh, and here's what it looked like with the snapped spring.

Pimpin' low...

Seriously though  :(

On the plus side, my rear springs look similar to your "OK" one - I'll get some pictures of my '99 to ease your mind if it ever stops raining...

Update

I had to buy 2 springs second hand as my local dealer said that they are no longer available from new.
My car is a 1999 and I have just fitted 2 springs from a '98. I am nervous that it will happen again as the springs I have put on are older than the original that broke, but I'm sure I'll get over it :)

It's an easy job, but just a nightmare when it happens....

Yes, I was thinking of getting the whole car lowered :)

Thanks, it would be nice to see someone else's too.

Thanks
Mike
