Question Reverse light stays on in drive

HI, I have a 2001 Chrysler Voyager with electronic shift ATX. When I shart the car reverse light is typically on. As you put it in reverse to back up always on as it should be. But as soon as it goes into drive seems to stay on. I first suspected the 4 position electric switch in the transaxle that tells the computer what gear it is in. But in retrospect that makes no sense since it has a digital gear computer gear selection light and it is always in the correct position. Then I was thinking about possible the tranmission control computer. But it shifts and operates great. Cost is very prohibative to swap out for a reverse light. A recent development is it seems to be intermmient as I have noticed if I am following my wife in a car if it hits a bump or brakes hard t will go off. So now I am thinking of an intermittant fault with something power on during ignition. Probable wire abrasion or something. I can figure stuff out but do not consider myself an excellent intermittent troubleshooter. Anyone had this happen or have any other suggestions. Or thoughts how to locate a fault like this. Thank you

yes, it is a 3 position switch inside transaxle that tells computer what gear it is it. But I dont think it can be that as it the digital gear selector is always in the correct postion. Thanks for the help
