Rusty aux heater hoses

I noticed the heater hoses for the aux heater is pretty rusty where it is secured to the underside of the van just b4 it goes into the rubber hose. Can I just cut the metal off just b4 the rust and get a bigger piece of heater hose to make up the difference?

me too

Hi rhino, I have noticed the same on my Voyager. Did you ever find a solution?

I am thinking of cutting off the affected sections and replacing with flexible steel mesh piping - the kind used for domestic hot and cold water. I suspect any piping must be resistant to chips flying up from the road and piercing the the tubin, in which case I would have to go for something hard tubing or use a metal splash guard.

thx. kkc.

Heater Hose.

I have replaced my Aux Heater with a Loop of Coolant Hose that is available from your local Motorfactors. Measure pipe O/D of pipe and take note. Use the spring clips that are already fitted as they are good.
However if your pipes are not leaking just scrap the loose rust off and cover them in thick grease, which will stop further rusting.
