Also a devonian running a Grand 2.5 TD LE.

I've found ebay to be good - seem to be able to get most bits from there, and not just from breakers - other than that the online parts searches seem to turn up whatever was needed - recently needed a new radiator - main dealer wanted nearly £600, but got one for £285 delivered on-line - google does work for this

Happy hunting

Eurocarparts are pretty good for basic service items.....very cheap....I recently bought a set of rear brake pads from them for £19.

http://vmdieselspecialist.com/ are good for engine parts at a reasonable price....cam belts, water pump, idler pullys etc. They're very helpful if you drop them an e-mail.

I've also had some cheap new parts off ebay.

They sell cheap alternators and starter motors all new.

Diesel vans... probibly a 5 speed stick and like 40 mpg ...lucky dogs!

Yep, about 42mpg on a run - though would prefer to sacrifice a few mpg for an auto box.

www.rockauto.com is good for spares - a bit limited for the engine spares on diesels as they deal mainly with US motors, but for everything else, is very good. Post/packaging has to be taken into account and if you are ordering a few items, it's worth paying a little extra for items if you can get it all sent from the same place (but Rockautos site allows you to play around with the order to see which is the best way to order). Delivery is quick - I've always go my stuff within 2 working days (volcanic ash permitting :-) ) - and as an example, when I was looking for a rear wiper motor, cheapest I could get over here was around £100 second hand on ebay, but from Rockauto, it was about £70 for a new motor including delivery, and I sent the old one back by surface mail and got another £10 refunded after postage costs.

I have just had my radiator re-cored for £164.50. Haven't fitted it yet but looking all nice new and shiny and comes with a 12 month warranty.

Also regarding eBay for spares I simply cannot recommend these guys highly enough

Without fail items arrive next day via first class delivery and they even respond to emails late on Sunday nights. I have had email exchanges at mid-night with them.
