Starting problem

For the past couple weeks, our van will randomly have an issue with starting. Sometimes it will take a couple tries and other times it will take at least 10x's.

During this time of the van not starting, when you open the door and put the key in, you hear the dinging noise and the digital mileage comes on, but there are no other lights and when you turn it over to start, nothing happens. No clicking noise either. Windows do not move, either, when key is turned all the way over.

I replaced the batteries in both keys, as we have one of those special keys that do not look like a common key, and that did not seem to be the problem.

Could it be a bad ignition switch? The starter? I was told to take it to a Chrysler dealer for them to do a diagnostic test...

Sorry, did not give van info.

We have an '08 T&C LX. 3.3L V6 engine.

Any experience working electrical systems and do you have a meter? One basic thing to look at is the battery. These vans are very sensitive to erratic power levels. Make sure your battery connections are shinny clean and tight. Wiggle the battery cables and watch for something to come alive. Have the battery load tested.
