Tailgate gap?

Today I was looking at my 'Tank' and I noticed a "gap" between the top of my tailgate and the body. Probably due to the car crashing into the back of my car last week.
I can't find anything bend or misplaced in the hinges or something and I also cant find an option to re-adjust the position of the tail gate. *Should the gap be like this? (see picture) *If not, how can I adjust it? Anyone knows? |
Open sore...Perhaps some Germolene and a BIG Bandage. Ok Ok I'm being silly...Savlon then.

A fulcrum is a fulcrum, his bonnet is pushed up in an inverted V shape - do you have a tow-bar fitted ?

No tow bar, he was spiked on my "towing ring" located under the bumper :)

A bumper used to be a real expensive protective functioning item, now cosmetic and cheap. The eyes usually front N/S, rear O/S in the UK offset that way from the towing car and vital to the view ahead. The best of a poor strength point is the L or R chassis in terms of both towing and importantly breaking. If the point of his impact was your towing eye it will at least the floor or chassis area of the door or the pan pushed in. Have a look - find out.

When I bought the car I wanted to work on it and make the GV beautiful and perfect.
Now, after a few "hits" I decided to maintain the car technical good but I couldn't care less about the looks anymore.. :p Maybe I'll paint the Tank camouflage :D I was mildly concerned about the gap because it might leak during heavy rainfall, but it seems that's not the case. The car still runs good and straight on the highway but i'll remove the bumper one of these days to see whats bend underneath. :o |

Ask a body shop man and the old school [er] will plant both his size 10's on one angle and throw his 22 stone beer belly in the opposite direction and rework the fulcrum, or in this case put x2 scaffe boards under the bottom of the door and use a 5 ton jack against the 3 ton car weight to rework the angle.
