Well, after nearly 6 years of not owning a Voyager, I am toying with buying one. I had a 2004 2.8 CRD Voyager which I sold in 2012. I have had a number of cars since, but none have matched the sheer practicality of the Chrysler.

I would be looking at a post 2008 2.8 CRD 5th generation Grand Voyager. I've been reading the forum trying to gauge opinion and reliability of this version of the car. I see a few transmission problems and some electrical issues, but would be interested to hear all your thoughts on the 5th gen vs 4th gen. Is reliability worse on the 5th gen? Has anyone had a 4th gen and gone on to own a 5th gen? If so i'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Before buying a G.V. I'd check out the cost of insurance first if I were you, and then see.

Thanks for the tip Leedsman. I just did an online comparison and the cheapest quote was just under £300....actually a bit cheaper than I would have expected.

Have others had problems with insurance? Is this because Chrysler have pulled out of the UK?

Hi, I can't see any reason to upgrade from Mk4 to Mk5 unless I had loads of dosh to give away. There is loads of Mk4's for the taking, many in £2k bracken with ages of 2006/7/8. Course there are the garages looking for between £4000 and £5000 for same ages. My old girl (2003) passed MOT again with just a bit sill welding, but she's reliable as Hell and pulls great so the urge to scrap and buy newer is out the box.

There are a few mk4's around, but it's very hard to find a good one. Most have galactic mileages these days.
