timing leaking coolent?????
 

My car has been at the dealer since wed. again, so now i need to decide what needs to be done.



1)
2000 TOWN AND COUNTRY drive belt keeps comes off... dealer saying it'll come off again when it rains. its the 5th time at dealer.
is it a factory defect.:mad:

the dealership in Madera is saying its leaking coolent from timing chain cover. they want to replace gasket of timing chain. ?????????????

I thought the timing belt was totally dry inside, no fluid.
what so ever......

the only fluid i see leaking is on the right side , right after the front wheel and door. its oily. so I dont think its any coolent.
Power steering fluid is also full.

1. most likely need a new tensioner. Also verify that all the pulleys are lining up. If it ever had a new alternator, a/c compressor, etc, there could be an alignment issue. Is the splash sheild under the engine? if it is missing, water will splash onto the belt and possibly cause this.

2. never have seen that. possible but not probable. I have seen a lot of rear heater tubes causing coolant leaks. Oily leak most likely the valve cover gaskets. I find a lot of them having loose bolts over time.

You have either a 3.8 or 3.3 in a town and country. these do NOT have a timing belt!!!
