Timing mark/locking postions

Hi all

I am UK and have a 2.8 diesel 2005, I am looking for a work shop manual. This is to help me fit a belt after the belt teeth shredded.

I have had years of exp but left motor trade 8 years ago and am finding it very difficult finding any thing about locking postions of cams, pump crank etc....

Any help would be appreciated..

Nick

To time it up after a belt snap, you need a set of chrysler timing pins. You use these to lock the engine at 90 degrees after TDC. I've never used the pins, but i think there are 3 of them. One for the flywheel and one for each of the cams shafts.

I assume you have managed to get the injectors out, and sorted out any damaged rockers?

Cambelt off, cam carrier off, 8 broken inlet rockers broken.

All parts ordered, locking pin set too.

Main dealer wanted £3000:00 for job.......then reduced to £2500:00

I have all parts ordered in at under £700:00, thats 16 rockers and lifters too. new belt etc....

Saving £2300:00 on original quote, wife seems we can have an extra holiday as we've saved that much.

Hi Nick

Be great if you could take a few photos for this forum. I think there would be some interested people.

Just a thought, you might want to consider doing the water pump while you are in there, depending on the mileage. Ebay has them at a "reasonable" price.

Thanks Nick, photos would be great.......does anyone know how he gets permission to upload photos?

Just read your first post, I have a manual that has the diesel supplement in it. I tried to scan and post a page for someone else recently but it was too big. I have pc problems so cant burn a cd but if you PM me I might be able to email it to you. If you need things urgent eg torque settings then just shout.
