Question Trailer towing capacity

08 T&C Limited. 4.0 Liter. I need an enclosed trailer to move household items and am considering a 6X10 that is 8 feet high. I do not have a towing package on the vehicle. Will this size trailer be too much for the tranny? Thanks

The towing weight limits are in the owners manual, I don't have the same year and model so I cannot give you the right information. The wind resistance on a 8' high trailer will be high, that alone will put strain on the tranny. Then add the weight of the trailer and contents and I think you will be pushing the limits of the tranny. Consider a lower profile trailer and think about adding a tranny cooler - that is what is in the towing package. I have towed a 6x8 trailer the same height as the vehicle loaded with household items and it handled it very well.

Do you have the towing package (tranny cooler) on your van?

Nope, just the stock cooler.
