trani gone bad?

ok so i bought this 96 town and country lxi about a year ago.. and after a while it kinda made a clunk sound shifting into 3rd... well i thought it was a motor mount.. never had a chance to put it in yet.. but today coming into town i let off the gas to slow down and when i went to push the gas it just revved up,, so i could rev it up and it would kinda kick in... it would run 30 as long as it diddnt shift into 3rd then it would slip... then the whole way home it wouldnt shift into overdrive or outta 3rd im not sure.. so i was able to go 45 at 3000 rpms... and the trani has fluid... so my question is could it be somthing else or is it gone bad?... thanks in advance

you were stuck in 2nd not third. your trans has failed. you broke the od hub or the OD planetary carrier (this is 3rd and 4th gear part). I'm rebuilding 2 of those right now with the exact same symptoms and each had the afore mentioned failures. and these are not the first time over the past 20 years I've seen this problem amongst many other common failures.
