Trans cooler lines disconnecting

Hello guys,
I have to disconnect the transmission cooler lines to make a complete fluid change on my Voyager 2.8 CRD '05.
I saw that a special tool is needed: could someone tell me if i can disconnect the lines without this tool?
Thank you very much!! ;)

whats the point of having the special tool to do something if u don't need it?

I have done the complete fluid change (mopar ATF+4 and filter), but the problem is not completely solved and i try to explain: the shifting from 1st to 2nd is a bit hard very often and when i stop the car with brakes and put in "D" there is a vibration like if car would start but it can't. Infact if i lose the brakes in D at idle, the car starts too fast: what's the matter?
Thanks
