using an i-pod

I buy a vehicle with more knobs and whistles than I ever saw outside an amusement arcade, and one of my little darlings asks right away: can I plug my ipod into the stereo? how stupid of me to buy a car that is not ipod compatible - grrrrr.

How difficult is it on my 2003 Limited XS with CD/DVD to hook up an ipod to play in the stereo? Any tips welcomed.

On my other cars I have a cassette player (remember those old tape-eating machines that can make music speed up and slow down at random) for which I have a cheap and cheerful cassette/ipod adapter.

Whatever happened to charabanc outings where the passengers just sang along with the engine and driver!

Happy Motoring.

PS removed the middle seats this week to give room for a drum kit for the band...boy are those seats HEAVY.

replace the radio with one that has a USB port or aux in. I couldn't work out another way of connecting my phone to the car. You might have to run a couple of cables to bypass the amp if yours has one fitted though.

As for the seats, wait until you try lifting out the back seat. I'm not a small chap and it's a real struggle to do it solo. Luckily our current one has Stow n Go - which is a god send.

Richard

Thanks Richard - I'll get by without i-pod and the loved ones can use ear buds.

I couldn't stretch to a newer vehicle with the stow-and-go but I've seen that and it looks amazing. For someone like me who wants to use the vehicle as a van, a bus, and a family hauler it would be, as you say, a god send. Rear seat looks like a two man operation to me, and still might involve a few expletives!

Best regards,
Munro.

I plug my mp3 player into the sockets in the rear and play through the DVD aux.
Just need a 3.5mm Jack to 2 x RCA lead.

Doh! Now why didn't I think of that. Good simple fix...top marks Travelmad.

Munro.
