Default Voyager gear oil change

How do I check & top up the gear box oil on a 2004 Voyager 2.5 diesel & what oil is specified. Vehicle is in England, Don't know if that makes a difference. I can't find anything to check the level.

Chrysler specify their own ATF+4 for that gearbox. Now before you tell me its is not an auto transmission.....yes I know that. However you can put ATF in a manual and many manufacturers do.

Typically on 99% of manual transmission you check they are full by continuing to fill them until the oil just starts to run out the fill hole.

It is very important on these boxes that you change the oil very regularly e.g. every 20K miles.

Thanks Glowplug. Do I only buy this ATF stuff from Crysler?
Where's the filler hole located & do I need to remove the enging pan plate to get to it? That's a nuisance as I've just put it back after changing the Oil cooler hose.

Hi John

Take a look through my previous posts and you will find a link to download an official Chrysler workshop manual for your car. It will answer all your questions. I would just buy from Chrysler other wise you can go to Opie's oils, they do an equivalent.

I am not making this as a suggestion in any way shape or form but if I owned your car I would put Amsoil MTF in there. I have the older Voyager, i.,e. a 2000 model, but both my gearbox and yours are made by a German company called Getrag and both are crap gearboxes that require very frequent oil changes.
