Well, I would first find out the difference between what you installed and what you should have (full full, drain back, etc). Many of the filters are very similar in design, but vary on size, volume, etc. You can go online to check what you should have and compare it to the specs of what you installed. I find it even more toubling that you were able to buy a filter from some parts store without the sales person verifying the model and engine size. Also, was the correct oil viscosity and volume used? If it is knocking due to an oil issue, that is not good. Post some more info and we can provide a more definitive opinion.
