98 Cirrus 2.5 cranks but no start.

have had this issue for some time now. Last time I replaced the crank and nothing then took to a shop and found it needed a computer.

Now it is blowing the ING/Fuel starer fuse (20a) and so just to test I put a 30a in and it started right up got the car where it needed to go, forgot about it( the daughters car so. . .) and now the issue is back the 30a fuse has not been popped but the car will crank and no start.

I check for fuel at the rail with key on, nothing. While cranking, nothing.

So what could be the issue, IGN, Fuel sytem, or starter or none of the above??

Thanks in advance!!!

Well, I guess it didn't need that computer huh? That sucks.

You have a short in the fuel pump circuit. Best advice I can give you is to get a manual and start checking. I could possibly e-mail you some diagrams. Slight possibility there is an issue with the power dist center where that fuse was blowing. I had one not too long ago that melted inside and I had to run a jumper wire so it would run. Not the first time i've seen it. Could be fuel pump also.

Fuse 8 20A runs starter solenoid, fuel pump (both via the relays) and part of ignition switch.

Sorry for the late reply, I finally got into looking at the car and I have some questions. I have a Haynes manual and it says to check the ohms at the 4 pin connector near the left rear strut tower, which I found but rather than a 4 pin connector I have a 8 pin minus 1. So what leads do I check. Thanks!!

Mr. Tennessee tech if you happen to be on here and reading this I could use some guidence. I have a haynes manual and it is showing a 4 pin connector but the vehicle actually has a 8 pin one null port so I am not sure which ones to check. I can not click on your profile to message you so . . . if you can message me that would be great THANKS!!!!

Ok so following the books methods I tested the ASD relay and am unsure if it is good or not. One test was to check the 85 and 86 port and it says it should be approximately 75ohms but it showed at 72.8 So does that mean it is bad. All the other test showed good.
Also is there anyway to test if the PCM is bad? Thanks!!

if u are a heavy line tech at a dealer why are u using a Haynes manual u have access to dealer connect use there wire diagram. Check all fuses for power on both sides first then take a little jumper wire and probe pin 30 and 87 see if the fuel pump turns on when u do that if it does get back to us.

I guess I use the wrong word I should have said WAS they lost there franchise so I left. that is why the haynes is all I have. THANKS I will try that when I get home. again thanks!!!

Where is this 8 Pin connector you're talking about? Haynes manuals are kinda crappy. Do you have access to Alldata?

When I flip down the back seat it is near the rear driver strout tower at the bottom. I will take a pic when I get home of what I am talking about.

This is the connector I was referring to.
