Boiling in the dash?
Hey all,
I have a 2000 cirrus 4.2 and i have been getting a boiling sound in the dash. I recently put this car back on the road after about 4 months of it sitting in the yard. It ran well for about a week and then one day the temp gauge maxed out but the engine didn't boil over and i noticed a loud clicking noise coming from the thermostat. The fans worked fine and I put the heater on which brought the temp down to normal and immediately took it home. After cooling off I opened the radiator/thermostat housing cover and overflow tank and noticed that it was very very low (note to self to ALWAYS thoroughly inspect a car that's been sitting for months!) so i added water to fill it up since I had no coolant at the time and it has been running fine since then except the new boiling noise in the passenger side dash. I do know that this is where the heater core is along with the evap core but I am wonder if I have a lot of air that needs to be bled out or did I reduce the boiling point of the coolant that much? or both? |
