Cirrus wont run when it rains

I have a 98 cirrus with a 2.5 V6. When it rains it wont run. Runs great when its dry. Even when its really cold it runs fine. I replaced the rotor, distributor cap, plug wires and plugs. Didn't help. I have tried searching online and found it is a common problem for this engine. Lots of people complaining about it but no one has found the answer. Anyone out there have this problem? A mechanic wants to change the distributor and crank position sensor but it's just a shot in the dark. Any help would be great.
Thanks

I still have mine(have it since '07) and you pointed out the main reason(rotor, distrbutor cap and wires). Never ever had the problem persist behond that point. You might want to go ahead with the distributor. Don't worry about the crank sensor. I did all of this myself, even the distributor(because of a cylinder misfire, wiched turned out to be a clogged fuel injector). But beyond that point, this is the 1st time I hear of multiple people having this problem.

Thanks for the reply. Was the distributor hard to replace? I'm sure I'll have to take the intake plenum off again. This car is in excellent condition and I want to get it running good.

Not hard, but don't be in a rush. Yes the intake does need to come off. Also, note that DO NOT REMOVE the rotor from distributor just yet. Mark the position in which it stopped, then when re-installing the distributor, you have to reposition the rotor it the same way you took it off in order to maintain the timing.
