Help..newbie with no start........

Hi all, my first post on this forum. I did a search and did not find the answer to my problem, so I am posting asking for help.
I have a 1999 Xler Cirrus LXi with the 2.5 L V6 engine and auto trans.
I had a leaking heater hose, alng with avery cool heater output,so I figured with 125,000 miles on it I should change the quick connect hose and thermostat while flushing the core, and also plugs, distributorcap and rotor while doing it since I had to pull the intake to get to the hoses.
Long story short, had 4 plug tubes with oil in them, and a broken coil tower by the time I got the dist. cap off. I replaced all the parts and had glued the coil output piece back in, turned the key...........crank like crazy but no attempt to start. I bought a used distributor from a running engine (they claimed) and swapped it in, but it still will not start. It is not making any spark at all.I have checked to make sure all the electrical connectors are plugged in properly.
Is there something I missed........like maybe the alarm system armed or a trick to starting the engine after doing a tuneup on it? I am wide open on suggestions. Thanks for looking!
Mike
