PCV valve and idle question

Hi all,

I have two questions that are completely unrelated.

First, where is the PCV valve located on a 2000 Cirrus (2.5 6-cyl.)?

Second, I've noticed that after my last oil change, the oil light will come on while the car is idling in gear, like when stopped at a light. I thought maybe the oil from the last change was of a different viscosity and perhaps that caused the oil light to come on. I just changed the oil again today, using 5W 30. It still comes on, but again only while the car is idling in gear.

In park the engine idles at about 750 rpms. When I drop it into drive, the idle lowers to just over 500 rpms, and it is at this lower rpm that the oil light will come on. Touch the gas just a little to raise the rpms just slightly, and the light goes off. Any ideas?

Should I be looking at trying to raise the idle rpm slightly. If so, how is that done?

Thanks in advance.

~Chris

RE: PCV valve and idle question

The PCV valve is on the left side of the valve cover.
As for the idle problem. I replaced the Idle air control valve.
The details are here.

Mike,

When you replaced the idle air control valve, did that raise the rpms enough so that the check oil light stopped coming on?? I have not taken the throttle body off to inspect mine yet.

RE: PCV valve and idle question

Mine still seems to idle a little low, after it's warmed up, but the oil light has not come on since.
