Relieving Fuel System Pressure
 

I'm looking into changeing the spark plugs on my 1997 chrysler cirrus. It's a 2.5L V6 so i need to remove the intake manifold. I was wondering how important it is to relieve the fuel pressure before removing and disconnecting the fuel lines. I've heard there is two ways of doing so, 1) by removing the fuel pump fuse and cranking the engine and 2) disconnecting the connecter to thefuel rail/injector electrical harness connector and connecting a 12 volt source to Circuit A142. This is all outlined pretty well in the repair guide. But it does not say what kind of 12 volt source to use. Any help would be great. Thanks

Hey Lanny,

You dont need to take off the complete intake manifold, just the intake plenum from the throttle body. Therefore you do not have to disconnect the fuel rail at all. It is still a bit of a pain though to get the plenum off, the biggest hastleis the EGR tube. Look at it again, you'll see how it goes, there is two pieces there with a gasket in between.
