Default Hey, Mods! How about notifying new members how/where to post

Dear Moderators,

It seems that many new members have no idea where or how to post their questions. It might help to give them a notice that would pop up when they first join and before they are allowed to post. I might suggest something along the following lines:

Welcome to Chrysler forum! This is a place where Chrysler owners and enthusiasts exchange information to help each other understand and enjoy their Chrysler vehicles even more. We do this by posting questions and comments about the joys and troubles we have had with our Chryslers. You are welcome to join in the fun by posting your own questions and comments. Please note that very often, you can find that someone else has had the same experience and has posted already, and others have offered their own experiences and wisdom in the same thread. If you can't find an answer to your problem, feel free to start a new thread with your question. When posting your question, please remember the following guidelines --

1. Post in the correct section. "New Members" is where you introduce yourself. "Forum Issues" is for questions related to the Forum itself, NOT for issues you are having with your car. Questions about your vehicle should be posted in the relevant vehicle section. Pacifica questions should be posted in the Pacifica section.

2. Give the thread a title that relates to the problem. "Door locks won't work" is a good, informative title. "Please help me!" is not informative. Remember one of the purposes of the forum is to help others with the same problem.

3. Do include information about your vehicle such as model, year, mileage, a history of the problem and what you have already tried to remedy it.

4. Don't include personal information like e-mail address or phone number or location unless relevant (e.g. salty area). Don't include cries for sympathy (e.g. "I'm a single mom and I need to get my kids to school!" - - we all need our cars, that's why we bought them.)

5. Be aware that there are old threads on the forum here that go back many years. Don't try to wake up an ancient thread by asking for a response from somebody who posted years ago. That person has probably moved on long ago and won't see your question. Better to start a new thread.

6. We have members here from countries around the world. Some of their vehicles are models that don't exist where you are, but the problems they experience may be similar. Some will post in different languages. It's all part of the fun.

7. This forum is not run by Chrysler. Don't expect to reach Chrysler through this forum. If you have an issue that should be covered under your vehicle warranty, contact your dealer.

8. Please be respectful. This is no place to take out your frustrations on other members. We do the best we can with what we've got.

Love this idea and really wish we had more active mods on this forum. Way too many posts being made in wrong sections and causing too much clutter. On one of my other forums the mods are very active and they will move, edit or even merge similar threads to keep things organized. Although it is only focused on one make/model vehicle, it gets WAY more traffic so they are kept on their toes.
