Lifetime Powertrain Warranty Question

I purchased a 2007 Town & Country last year. I am considering giving it to my mother so she can drive it fulltime & I will get another van. I would still technically be the owner, but she'll be driving it.

My questions arethis:

Could I add her to the registration/title, so she could be co-owner? This would allow her to get her own insurance, without me having to take out the policy.

Also, would this void the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty? Mywife & I areon the Registration & Title currently. If I added a name, would it void the warranty or does would it still be active since the original owners are are the reg/title still?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

RE: Lifetime Powertrain Warranty Question

She can get her own insurance even though the van is titled in your name! All the insurance company wants to know is the authorized drivers and the VIN#. No need to do any title changes ... Also, your lifetime drivetrain warrantee is on the vehicle itself and not a person.

If I were you, I would just let your mother have the van, drop your insurance coverage and have her pick up her own coverage..

I am actually doing that myself now with my daughter who is now married and still driving a Chev Tracker titled in my name.. I checked this out with the insurance company and they could care less who owned the vehicle, JUST WHO IS GOING TO BE DRIVING IT. Of course if she totalled it, I would be in line for the settlement..

RE: Lifetime Powertrain Warranty Question

Some of the warranties do get transferred to the next owener ie basic warranty. But the lifetime powertrain is not one of these once the owner sells it it is void. also be sure to get it checked up every 5 years or else its void.
