voyager cuts out and stops

Hi All
I have a 2000 voyager LE ......111000 miles and has recently started to give me trouble. Firstly a couple of weeks ago I was driving home from work on a country road when the car hit a bump the engine spluttered but drove on home 20 miles without any problems. The same thing happened the following evening bump coughed and spluttered again home without further incident. A few days ago the problem really started the car broke down and I called the RAC who came and looked attached the car to his onboard computer but sadly showed no faults, RAC breakdown service got me home as no garages open. Now the car will start first time every time and will tick over indefinately but when I try to drive the engine dies as soon as I push the gas pedal . Has anyone any idea what this could be , I have checked all fuses and relays and found them to be all ok also I have gone over the car checking electrical connections, I am at a bit of a loss.
I would appreciate any guidance to what this problem could be

Could be fuel problem. Maybe a clogged filter or weak fuel pump. Try the filter first as it's a lot less money.

RE: voyager cuts out and stops

Your "bump" may have dislodged a pick-up or screen inside your fuel tank. It may also have dislodged some sediment inside your fuel tank. It also may have loosened some mounting bolts on something allowing it to move out of position and kinking a fuel line somewhere.

It is most likely a filter or pump issue though, as dcotter0579 suggested.

Sorry Crosbo. This reply is only thirteen months late. Maybe it will help someone else.

I have a 2005 Chrysler Voyager 2.5 and it cut out repeatedly when driving, mostly when turning left.
Eventually took it to a Chrysler garage and the Mercedes engineer spotted the problem straight away.

There is a (forgive the un technichal terms) gizmo that measures the air / fuel ratio and due to a fault in it when I turned left, or perhaps after a hard jolt, it loosened the housing and sucked more air which told the computer there was lean mix which cut the engine out.

Of all the spares that the Mercedes garage holds, they have plenty of these gizmos which maked me think that it is a common fault.
