Default Water Temp Gauge issue ??

Hi im having issues with water temp gauge on my 1999 Grand Voyager, Needle shoots up when going round corners or it just moves up and down now and again when driving with warning light coming on but there are no overheating issues with car at all. This also happens on a cold engine ?? Is there a fault with Gauge itself ??

Check your level of coolant. If your coolant is low, the sending unit may occasionally not be covered with liquid, which will produce erratic readings.

Check for a loose electrical connection in the sensor circuit.
