My Grandmother's 1986 L4 2.2 Turbo apparently needs a fan switch...which is no longer available from the dealer (or World Pac etc).
What is strange is this switch is apparently a normally closed switch, when the plug is disconnected from the switch, the electric cooling fan comes ON!

This seems to me to be quite backwards, a thermostatic cooling switch ought to be normally open. When the engine reaches a certain temperature, this switch should close to engage the fan. At least a normal thinking engineer would design it this way.

So I'm looking for a replacement switch AND/OR a work around OR a schematic OR maybe someone knows the temperature that the switch "opens".

I wish I could be some help for you, but the reason I'm writing is in hopes of finding answers. I also have a 2.2, but mine is a Turbo, and it's like any parts for these engines or the cars themselves it seems as though most parts are discontinued. I'm hoping someone has found the magical website or supplier for these long lost cars. I have attempting to locate an EGR valve for our car. The best part! Most part suppliers list up to 10 different EGRs and none match mine or crossover to mine. I read one post where someone was looking to locate a Fuel Pump but none of them matched his. It was like days gone by, except it was a Fuel Pump not an EGR.
So like I said, if you or anyone out there that reads this, if you have the magic supplier please let me know.
