2004 sebring 4dr key cyl problem
 

The key will not turn in one of 04 Sebring fleet cars. I have a new cylinder keyed from the dealer but can't get the old one out with out being able to turn the key to the on position. Any hints on getting the old cylinder out. I have the FSM but no help there. I tried all the normal tricks to get the key to turn But no luck.The rep that drives the car said the problem has been going on for weeks with the key but told me when the car got towed in.

Just an FYI to fix this problem. You need to take a punch or small chisle and hammer the release tab for the cylinder. Dont worry if you break the housing because that is the only alternative fix. This worked for me and after discussing it with some dealer techs it works 9 out of 10 times.
