2008 Aspen - Trailer Hitch Part (Going Insane!)

Hi all,

I recently purchased a lightly used 2008 Aspen, and I'm going nuts trying to find a part online. The vehicle has a tow package, and half of the cover for the electrical plug (there are two) adjacent to the hitch receiver is broken off. I've searched high and low for this part, and keep finding receiver covers, but NOTHING for the electrical. I know it must exist, but I'm trying to find it myself before paying my local dealera ridiculous amount of money for a five cent cover.

For clarification, this is the right half of a spring-loaded cover over the electrical plugs. Thank you to anyone that can help!

You will be surprised at what the dealership asks for some of it's parts... For what it's worth, buy the OEM, it will plug in perfectly, no wiring included!

Update: Well, I went to the dealer today to ask about this part, and thought at worst they would order it and charge me $20. Instead, they claim that my trailer hitch and electical connectors are non OEM, and want to charge me $200 to change to an OEM connector (or more...they won't know until they "get in there and look around").

The best part was when I took the guy out and showed him the "MOPAR" stamp on the other half of the electrical cover. He then claimed that it must have been a very old trailer hitch package that was bolted on. BS - the vehicle is one year old, and has the higher gears, etc. associated with the tow package. I even opened the owner's manual and found pictures of the exact connectors.

I'm going to find another dealer and try again.

The fact that there is two mounted plugsside by side should have woke this clown up. Hope you have better luck at the next dealer!

I've now been to two dealers, and dealer #2 thought they had it right. They wanted me to pay $192 for part #55364694AA. I looked it up, and it's a cover...for the receiver hitch apparently, not the electrical.

Just about to give up. This should be a five minute exercise, not a three week research project.

RE: 2008 Aspen - Trailer Hitch Part (Going Insane!)

CONCLUSION: I found the item myself. It's part of the 4 and 7 pin trailer wiring harness. For anyone that needs the part number, it's 82209773.

No thanks to any of the parts "gurus" I talked to. Sheesh!

***UPDATE*** I received the trailer wiring harness this evening, and installed the connector part in 5 minutes. Sadly, I had to pay $141.36 for the entire kit just to get this one part. If anyone in in need of the wiring, etc., please let me know and I'll sell it to you for cheap.

Thanks.

Sorry I'm a bit late, but the part# for just the plug is 56055632AC. Hope things are going well with you - give that # a shot if you need another one down the road...
