A/C not working
 

Hey guys I have a 1999 LHS and when I originally purchased it the A/C wasn't working (Was in the winter time, figured I'll deal with it when it gets warmer). Well now it's that time and the compressor was bad so I got a new one... Recharged with freon and still no cold air... I also changed the accumulator and did another recharge, the a/c air is cool at best, not the ice cold air I was expecting... I mean what other problem could it be?

I figured those are the 2 main components for an AC system, so I'm a little lost, please any insight would be great....

Could be that opening up the system disturbed some old junk in there and the expansion valve has gotten plugged, or partially plugged. Do you have access to a test manifold with pressure gauges? Might help diagnose the problem.

I'd like to say check your coolant levels... or maybe not. Check your thermostat to see if its working correctly. That could be the reason its taking so long.

please read the first sentence before making any comment on a post the coolant level has nothing to do with the ac working or not.

Is the AC commpressor OEM part or OEM replacment but from another brand this is one thing how did you charge the system and is it the correct type of gas or did you fill it using gages sometimes you need to discharge the system by vacuming and then add the right amount of oil and( DIY (not nessesory) and Gas amount should not be measured by pressure (PSI Gage )but by wight(grams).

Hey guys thanks for all the input I do appreciate it... Turns out the new compressor I purchased locked up, so I ended getting ANOTHER compressor maybe hoping it was the compressor the whole time... I put it in and still only cool air at best... Not only that I noticed the High and Low pressure parts are both hot when I turn the car on and put my ac at full blast, is that normal? Freon is in there you would think it would be cold. What could it mean? I just drove on the highway for a little to see if that'll do the trick, again it's SLIGHTLY COOL at best. The freon is in there, could it be a bad condensor? I am at a total loss and it's been in the 90's almost all week here in NY! I hate it
Is it possible that I may have to get an entirely new ac system? How would I know, thanks guys

There are four basic components of an air conditioning system: 1. The compressor. 2. The condenser. 3. The expansion valve. 4. The evaporator core. Add to that the receiver-dryer which is supposed to protect the other components.

If you have replaced the condenser and compressor, you need to check out the others. If one side of the system is not cold, then something is blocking proper circulation of the refrigerant. It's unlikely that the evaporator core would get plugged totally as it has many parallel paths for the vapor to travel. That leaves the expansion valve, which has one small orifice for the fluid and if it is plugged, the system will not work, or possibly the receiver drier, but again that is less likely to plug up.

I think that 1999 dosent use the ferion but the RF134A gas type could result into compressor lockup

It's called freon, not ferion. If the expansion valve is plugged, the compressor could eventually attempt to compress liquid and may lock up, but I doubt it. Refrigerant 134a is no more likely to lock up a compressor than R-12.

Is the blend door working? Might need a new actuator.
