Please start with the basics, year-model-mileage. Is this a diesel engine?

Turbos do not kick in but spin up with increased exhaust flow from engine rpms. The only lag/delay a turbo has is when first starting out as the turbo has not spun up enough to generate any meaningful psi increase for more power.

model is a 2006 grand voyager ,milage unknown mileometer doesnt read and yes its a 2.8 crd diesel ,
the engine holds back on acceleration ,when the eml comes on you can feel the pull from the engine.
it feels like the turbo isnt doing anything until the eml shows.
Petrol engines im good with, diesels not so
