Cooling System '4 Sebring Issue
'04 Chrysler Sebring Convertible 2.7l 6cyl.
So my dad and I replaced the thermostat, outlet housing, and radiator within the past month (all went bad at once) So ever since replacing the system, we have been noticing that as we put coolant in the system, coolant continues to leak through the overflow hole at the top of the overflow tank. I know it's supposed to be a sealed system but continue to think that air is getting in the system allowing more pressure to build and push the coolant to the overflow. I know it's not the head gasket as the oil is fine and no signs of water/coolant in the oil. What else could it be??? |
Not sure of the 04's system layout, but did you try a new "radiator" cap?
I do know that for the 95-00 cousin Avenger with a 2.5 motor that there is a small tube that attaches to the underside of the overflow tanks cap, without that small plastic tube the coolant will not suck back into the cooling system, and keep filling and escaping out the overflow tanks outlet. Do the radiator fan(s) work when the car is at temp? |
I forgot to mention that. Yes, we replaced it once and then replaced it again. We also replaced the tank back in December 2017.

if the cap is on correctly and tight and it still leaks into the reservoir and it is not overheated, bad cap
