Hello everyone my name is Matt and I'm looking for some advice from any of you mechanically inclined individuals, I have a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica 3.5 and I'm having an issue troubleshooting this EGR circuit...The code is a fault in the Signal circuit of the EGR system essentially saying the voltage is too high and something isn't right so I will let you know every step I've taken so far to track the issue. First and foremost I have pulled up the EGR data on my scan tool and can see there is between 4 and 4.5 volts on the EGR Voltage data PID. My next step was to unplug the connector at the EGR valve and look at the change on my scanner and take voltage measurements at each of the 5 wires. With the connector unplugged the scan tool read 5 volts. There are 2 grounds a control wire, a 5v feed, and a signal wire. The grounds are good and I have a good 5v feed to the sensor. The signal wire read around 2-4 volts when the connector was unplugged. I then went to the ECU and found the signal pin on connector 2 pin 22 and took a measurement at the connector, it was the same as it was at the other side of the harness so I unplugged the ecu connector and took a voltage measurement at the pin itself and there is 2.9v on the pin for the signal wire without the ecu connector plugged in....This is my problem!!! I have no idea if there should be voltage on the signal return wire pin and if not...what the heck could cause that! this doesn't seem right at all to me and maybe someone else has an idea. Also to rule out the possibility of a potential short in the signal wire to the reference voltage I cut the wire at each end and wired a jumper wire directly from the ecu to the EGR valve for troubleshooting purposes without change, i also had a new EGR valve handy and I plugged it in to see if it could have been an internal short in the valve itself with no affect, I'm very stumped and I could not imagine why there would be 2.9v on the signal pin at the ECU without the connector plugged in? I'm leaning towards a bad pcm but I'd like some second opinion before I make that call. Any advice would be very much appreciated!
