During the 2004 model year, Chrysler introduced a different engine control system which involved a different computer and different sensors on the engine. The question you have posed relates to some of those differences. From your perspective, you need to be sure that the replacement engine you install is the same engine as is in your vehicle now. Mechanically they are the same but electronically they are different. Before buying your replacement engine, check the configuration of its engine computer. If it looks the same as yours and the plugs on the computer are the same, then you should be fine. If they are different from yours, don't buy that engine. It can be made to work but will not be "plug and play" and you will have to start worrying about tone ring configuration and the rest of that stuff.
